RAIA: Curtorim Gymkhana edged out CAC Sports and Social Club 2-1 to move into the semi-finals in a thrilling quarter-final clash of the Golden Jubilee Chandor Seamen Football Tournament, played at the Chandor Church Sports Complex ground on Thursday. Both teams showcased high-quality football in the opening half.
Resuming after the lemon break, Curtorim Gymkhana struck early. Rhay Dias opened the scoring in the 48th minute with a brilliant header off a corner. Just three minutes later, Anslem Fernandes coolly converted a penalty after a Curtorim Gymkhana forward was brought down in the box, making it 2-0.
CAC Cansaulim kept pressing and were rewarded in the 60th minute with a penalty for handball, which Arron Fernandes converted to reduce the deficit to 1-2.
