RAIA: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, stormed into the semi-finals of 26th All Goa Our Lady of Merces Football tournament with an impressive 3-1 victory over Ambelim Sports Club in an exciting quarter-final clash at Chinchinim Church ground, on Thursday.
DBO Fatorda netted two quick goals in the first half through Shubert Colaco and Rahul Sharma.
The second half began with the same intensity with Hanslum Furtado making it 3-0 for DBO Fatorda. Ambelim SC manage to pull one back through Arvind Fernandes.
Earlier, Sao Jose de Areal came from behind to register a 5-3 victory over Benfica Youth Club, Vasco.
Benfica YC started brightly, with Edson Souza finding the net in the very 3rd minute. Clinton Mascarenhas doubled their lead in the 8th minute.
Sao Jose de Areal’s fight-back began after a fumble by the Benfica YC goalkeeper, allowing Bersel Viegas to pounce and tap home their first goal. Soon after, Viegas struck again to level the score, bringing the match alive. However, Johnson Horta restored Benfica YC’s lead just before halftime, making it 3-2.
Sao Jose de Areal’s came out rejuvenated in the second half. David Colaco netted the equalizer in the 32nd minute, before Bersel Viegas completed his hat-trick in the 46th minute, turning the tide firmly in Sao Jose de Areal’s favour. Desi Olivera capped off the comeback with a goal in the 60th minute to seal the 5-3 win.
