Dempo SC thump KV 1; St Alex pip St Xavier’s HSS

NAGOA: St Alex HSS Curtorim and Dempo SC registered wins in their respective matches of the OORJA-CAPF’s U-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament in boys’ category, on Tuesday.

NAGOA: St Alex HSS Curtorim and Dempo SC registered wins in their respective matches of the OORJA-CAPF’s U-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament in boys’ category, on Tuesday.
While the Curtorim side stunned St Xaviers HSS, Dempo SC thrashed Kendriya Vidyalaya (1) 9-0.
At Nagoa ground, In an one sided affair, Dempo SC opened their account in the 9th minute through Welroy Carvalho before Baggio Fernandes and Xyln Oliveira score a brace each.
While Allaxi Cadozo, Stewart D’Mello and Shivanand Naik were the other scorers for Dempo SC.
At Rosary ground, Navelim, St Alex and St Xaviers HSS started the match on equal footings. 
St Alex had the first chance in the 6th minute when Joy Hilario was set up in front of the rival goal, but the striker’s goal bound shot was pushed to safety by Mapusa keeper Sally Mascarenhas. 
However after a fierce midfield battle, St Alex finally managed to take the lead in the 13th minute when Jovito Castanha and Darren Fernandes combined upfront before the latter hit a low show that went past the helpless rival keeper, 1-0.
Down by a goal, St Xavier’s regrouped and went all out in search of the equalising goal but the Curtorim defence stood tall. Florence Fernandes’s shot was saved by Curtorim keeper Selito Myranda before Frezly Fernandes blocked Mapusa’s Joshua Rebello move in front of the goal.
Crossing ends, it was a midfield battle as teams struggle to find the space and rhythm. 
St Alex had the chance to double the lead when Larry Mascarenhas floated the ball to Ashton Quadros but the latter shot wide from the top of St. Xavier's box. 
In the 46th minute, St Xavier’s Floyd Pereira close range shot was swallowed by the Curtorim keeper in the 46th minute.
St Xavier's Vince Fernandes long ranger shot was pushed away to safety by rival keeper. 
St Alex’s Anton Fernandes missed the St Xavier’s nets in the 59th minute.
Noon Colaco of St. Xavier's missed an open sitter in the 60th minute .
