PEDDA- BENAULIM: Dovandem Veterans registered a solitary goal win over Fatorda Veterans to enter into the semi-finals of the 1st all Goa UK /US Boys Veterans soccer tournament, organised by Mix Friends Benaulim, at Xembu Moll ground, Benaulim, on Wednesday.
The match began on a fast paced note with Dovandem dominating in the midfield and took the lead in the 14th minute when playmaker Bruno Coutinho played a pass to Allwyn Fernandes who slotted past goalkeeper Francisco Costa. Bruno who was in superb form created two more chances but Allwyn wasted.
Dovandem were on the back foot after the restart to protect the slender lead and were dealt with a severe blow when defender Caitano was sent off after receiving his second caution. Dovandem with a man short, defended superbly with Agnelo and Rafik at the back. Davondem goalkeeper Soccoro Azavedo made a brilliant save to deny Shailesh Misquin from netting a late equaliser.
