Former Delhi captain Mithun Manhas is poised to take over as the next BCCI president. As of Saturday, his name was the sole nomination for the post, which has remained vacant since former India allrounder Roger Binny stepped down in August. Vice-president Rajeev Shukla has been serving as interim president.

Another former cricketer, Raghuram Bhat, is expected to become the BCCI treasurer. Bhat currently heads the Karnataka State Cricket Association.

Manhas, who will turn 46 in October, has been involved in cricket administration, including a stint on the BCCI sub-committee managing the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association. A veteran of Indian domestic cricket, he scored over 9,700 first-class runs across a career spanning 1997-98 to 2016-17. He has also worked as a coach and batting consultant for IPL teams including Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Gujarat Titans.

The BCCI elections are scheduled for September 28 in Mumbai. Unless fresh nominations are filed by the deadline, the names decided in an informal Delhi meeting, including Manhas, Shukla, and Saikia—are expected to be final. Former Saurashtra captain Jaydev Shah may also join the BCCI Apex Council.
