FATORDA: Fr Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School Verna defeated Rosary Higher Secondary School Navelim 7-6 via the tie-breaker to emerge champions at the Under-17 Subroto Mukherjee Cup (Salcette Taluka) organised by DSYA, at the Astro turf ground, Fatorda, on Saturday .
Rosary netted the first goal of the match through Aaron Barretto’s power drive shot in the 5th minute.
After toiling hard, the trailing side Fr. Agnel HSS levelled scores before the teams went into the breather through Meuton Fernandes’ solo effort.
In the second half Aaron Barretto of Rosary tried a series of attacks but Fr Agnel defence manned by Preston Pereira, Aaron Mascarenhas, Aditya D’Cruz and Myron Pacheco was impenetrable.
Rosary HSS goal at the other end was guarded by remarkable Alister Fernandes, Leston Fernandes, Cletus Pinto, Kidron Fernandes and Leander Fernandes.
The scoreboard at full-time read 1-1. In the resultant tiebreaker Fr Agnel netted through Nigel Coutinho, Aaron Mascarenhas, Brison Fernandes, Flan Gomes, Stalen Lucas and Myron Pacheco while Denson Fernandes, Cletus Pinto, Samward Pereira, Leo Rebello and Alister Fernandes scored for Rosary HSS.
