RAIA: Fr Agnelo YSC, Paroda, scored a hard-fought solitary goal victory over hosts Ambelim Sports Club to emerge champions in the Cipriano Silva memorial inter-village football tournament organised by Ambelim Sports Club at Chinchinim Church ground, recently.
Fr Agnelo YSC dominated the first session of the match but missed scoring chances through Zsowell Fernandes and Savlon Fernandes. The winning goal for Fr Agnelo YSC was netted in the 48th minute by Livan Clement.
The winners and runners-up were awarded Rs 1 lakh and Rs 70,000 respectively plus trophies.
Director of Spirituality Centre Pedro Arrupe, INS, Raia, Fr Joseph Cardoso was the chief guest and handed over the prizes in the presence of Executive Director and Chief of the Institute ATI ONGC, Goa, Saket Gupta; Our Lady of Hope Church, Chinchinim, Parish Priest Fr Alex D’Souza; Ambelim Sports Club Chairman Benjamin Silva; Goa Football Association Vice-President Anthony Pango, GFA Executive Members Andrew Ferrao, Anthony Leo Fernandes, Costao Paul, Cosme Oliveira; Melvin DCosta, John Silva, Charlton, club officials and other dignitaries.
