RAIA: Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club, Paroda edged past CAC Sports and Social Club 7-6 via a penalty shootout in a thrilling clash of the Anil Kamat Memorial Football Tournament, organised by Enfermos Sports Club, at the Chinchinim Church ground.
Fr Agnelo YSC started on the front foot, with Livan Clemente’s early strike in the 6th minute being brilliantly denied by CAC’s goalkeeper. In the 13th minute, Linson Rebelo’s powerful free-kick was again kept out.
CAC keeper Jovito D’Souza remained in fine form, producing key saves to deny Selvin Fernandes, Selton Fernandes and Livan Clemente.
Despite several chances from CAC’s Selvin D’Mello and Chadwick Furtado, the score remained goalless at the break.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 38th minute of the second half, as Godwin Fernandes struck home a fine goal off Selton Fernandes’ cross to give Fr Agnelo YSC the lead. But CAC equalised soon after in the 56th minute through Chadwick Furtado.
With the score tied 1-1 at full time, the match was decided by a tiebreaker.
Fr Agnelo YSC successfully converted through Liteson Rebelo, Salvin Fernandes, Alfiano Fernandes, Princen Costa, Alvino Fernandes and Ravil Fernandes.
CAC replied through Alrico Cardozo, Domnic Saures, Chadwick Furtado, Regan Soares and Salvin D’Mello.
