AGENCIES, KOLKATA: Goa were able amass a formidable total thanks to Smit Patel and skipper Amit Verma as they scored 490 for 4 on day 1 of the Round 9 Plate Ranji Trophy, at Calcutta Cricket and Football ground, Kolkata, on Wednesday.
Openers Sumiran Amonkar(32) and Vaibhav Govekar(21) weren’t able to give the team a foundation to build on after being sent back to the pavilion by G Lalbiakvela.
However, Smit(236) and Amit(148) managed to put up a commendable total before Goa declared the innings with 490 runs on the board.
Lalbiakvela scalped three wickets off 91 runs.
At stumps, Mizoram were 15 for the loss of one wicket.
Vijesh Prabhudessai picked up the opening wicket for Goa.
