India to Welcome Global Para Chess Talent at 24th IPCA World Championship in Goa

PANJIM: Goa will host the 24th IPCA World Chess Championship from July 21 to 31, at the International Centre, Dona Paula. The championship, organised by Chess Federation for Physically Disabled (CFPD) under the aegis of the All-India Chess Federation and in collaboration with the Goa Chess Association for Persons with Disabilities (GCAPD), is supported by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the State Commission for Persons with Disabilities.

Over 100 players from 20 countries - including Russia, Israel, Poland, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and India - are expected to participate. Prominent names include IM Gurbanov Andrei (Israel), FM Severino Sander (Philippines), and India’s FM Venkata Krishna Karthick. Goa’s own Sanjay Kavlekar and Amrut Naik are also likely to compete. The championship reflects India’s commitment to creating accessible global sporting platforms for persons with disabilities.
