Harsh, Tejan, Yash, Ashmeet, Sakshi claim double crowns; Karan, Janhavi top

PANJIM: Harsh Mane, Tejan Fallary, Yash Desai,Sakshi Kurbhelgi, Ashmeet Parsekar secured double crowns each in late Pandurang Prabhu Moye State Badminton Ranking championship organized by Mapusa Shuttlers in association with Goa Badminton Association and Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at Mapusa.

Karan Dhavaskar and Janhavi Mahale were at their best to emerge champions in men’s and women’s singles respectively.

Others who emerged double crown winners were Sparsh Kolwalkar, Advait Balakrishnan, Shreya Mehta, Sufiya Shaikh and Astrid Dias. Michael Ryan Mare (boys u-11), Avni Khyalia (girls u-11), Anaya Kamat (girls doubles u-13), Shane D'Souza and Saanvi Audi (u-15 mixed doubles), Aarush Pawaskar (boys doubles u-15), Lydia Barreto (senior mixed doubles), Arjun Bhagat (boys doubles u-17), Soumya Deshpande (girls doubles u-17), Malaika Lobo and Synnovia Dsouza (girls doubles u-19), Shivanjali Thite (girls doubles u-15) and Arnav Saraf (boys doubles u-13) were the other notable winners in the season's opening tournament.  

In an exciting men’s singles finals, top seed Karan Dhavaskar, prevailed over Ayaan Shaikh 21-15, 15-21, 21-12. In the women’s singles finals Janhavi Mahale defeated Aarohi Coutoncar 21-12, 21-8 .

In the men's doubles, Arjun Fallary and Tejan Fallary  defeated Floyd Araujo and Fredrick Fernandes 21-18, 21-15. Tejan Fallary and Lydia Barreto triumphed over Aryaman Saraf and Nidhi Dessai  22-20, 21-19 to secure the senior mixed doubles title.

In boys singles U-13, Sparsh Kolwalkar defeated Ansh Chaurasia 25-23, 21-15. Arnav Saraf and Sparsh Kolwalkar emerged boys doubles U-13 champions defeating Ansh Chaurasia and Shaan C K  21-13, 21-12.

Advait Balakrishnan beat Aarush Pawaskar 21-13, 15-21, 21-13  in boys singles U-15 finals. In boys doubles U-15, Aarush and Advait  defeated Arnav Saraf and Owais Tahasildar  21-12, 21-13.

Harsh Mane emerged champion in sub-juniorU-17 boys defeating Yash Desai 21-12, 21-12. Harsh secured the junior U-19 singles title beating Pranav Naik 21-6, 21-11.

Yash Desai secured twin doubles glory, winning the U-17 and U-19 boys doubles. Yash teamed up with Arjun Bhagat to win 23-21, 17-21, 21-13 over Harsh Mane and Shaheen C K. In U-19, Yash and Ashmeet Parsekar defeated Parth Joshi and Shrijay Naik 21-10, 21-9. Ashmeet Parsekar and Shreya Mehta defeated Chirag Mahale and Janhavi Virnodkar 21-16, 21-7 to win the U-19 mixed doubles. 

Sakshi K emerged a dominant force in girls U-17 and U-19 singles, registering commanding wins over Shreya Mehta 21-6, 21-14 in U-17 and Aarohi Coutoncar 21-6, 21-9 in U-19.  

Results of other finals: Girls U-11: Avni Khyalia bt Pragya Audi 15-11 15-11. Girls U-13: Astrid Dias bt Dimple Revankar  21-19, 13-21, 21-17. Girls U-13 doubles: Anaya Kamat and Astrid Dias bt Aaryaa Metry and Dimple Rivankar 21-16 23-21.

Girls U-15. Sufiya Shaikh bt Ritika Chelluri 21-14, 13-21, 21-15. Girls U-15: Shivanjali Thite and Sufiya Shaikh bt Isha Borkar and Jewel Abranches 21-2, 21-7. Mixed U-15: Shane D'Souza and Saanvi Audi bt Harshvardhan Gauns and Gitanjali Gauns 21-4, 21-5. Girls doubles U-17: Shreya Mehta and Soumya Despande bt Aadhya Chaurasia and Lakshita Satish Sawal 21-12, 23-2. Girls U-19 doubles: Malaika Lobo and Synnovia Dsouza bt Janhavi Virnodkar and Riya Haldankar 15-21, 21-15, 24-22.
