MARGAO: Kimberly Cabral and Junette Rodrigues rallied together as a powerful pairing to overpower Danielle Eva Fernandes and Helen 6-0, advancing to the semi-finals of ladies doubles category of ongoing Baale BPS Open 2025, at the BPS Club, here, on Friday.
In the girls U-14 semi-finals, Tvisha Sardesai advanced to the final after her opponent Kimberly D’Sa retired from the match 3-0 due to illness and Urvi Pai Panandiker defeated Bhaavya Bhoomkar after a prolonged battle on the court with a score of 4-2, 1-4, 10-7.
In the girls U-18 semi-finals, Tithee Bhoomkar outplayed Avni Lotlikar 4-0, 4-1, and Tvisha Sardesai beat Bhaavya Bhoomkar 4-0, 4-0.
The boys U-14 category saw Ethan Luis De Ataide overcome Timofei Polosin 6-0 in the quarter-final, before succumbing to Shaurya Verlekar’s challenge in the semi-final 4-3, 0-4, 12-10. In the boys U-18 semi-final, Kyan Mavany overpowered Vedant Naik 4-1, 4-0.
Junette Rodrigues/Nishad Shevde and Liza George/Prince Agnelo Joven de Silva prevailed over their respective opponents Tvisha Sardesai/Sanket Nayak and Dustan Dias/Tanya Shelyazhynska-Caldeira 6-1 in the quarter-final of the mixed doubles category; in the same category, Anjali Philip/Santosh conquered Raisa Menezes/Lyndon JP 6-4, 6-1 in the semi-final.
Siddharth conquered Prince Agnelo Joven de Silva 6-1 in the open men’s singles quarter-final. In the Masters 45+ men’s singles category, Sameer Kakodkar got the better of Sandeep Menon 6-1 in the quarter-final and in the semi-final of the same category, Manoj Pandey overwhelmed Sameer Kakodkar 1/6, 6/1, 10/4 after a fierce match.
In the Masters 55+ men’s singles semi-finals, Jude Cardozo quelled Noel Noronha’s challenge 4-6, 6-1, 10-7 to advance, while in the Master’s 55+ Men’s Doubles semifinal, Caetano Fernandes/Basavraj Pattanshetty bested Raju/Aman Prabhu Gaonkar 6-4, 6-4.
