PANJIM: Macabbi Juniors defeated Keith Boys 4-1in the final to clinch the 2nd All Goa 5-a-side Verna Futsal Cup organised by Verna Sports Club at the Kings Futsal Turf, Verna, recently.
Rohan Rodrigues and Sahil scored two goals each respectively for the winners while Kevin scored the lone goal for Keith Boys.
For the third place, Lincoln FC pipped Limon FC 2-1 via tie-breaker.
Goa Rehabilitation Board Secretary Aleixo Da Costa was the chief guest, while Assistant Coach Mumbai FC Clifford Miranda was the guest of honour. Special invitees were Holy Cross Church, Verna, Assistant Parish Priest Fr Royal Raposo, Congress Block President Nuvem Constituency Morrison Rodrigues, PHD in Earth Science and Researcher Dafilgo Fernandes, former India International Player Adil Khan, football legend of Verna Tiago Fernandes, former MPT player Isidore Rodrigues, former team manager Verna Sports Club Manuel Fernandes and Verna Sports Club President Sancen Fernandes.
Aleixo gave away the cash prizes to the winners and runners-up of Rs 40,000 and trophy Rs 30,000 and trophy respectively in the presence of other dignitaries. Third place winners were awarded cash prize of Rs 10,000 and trophy.
Best goalkeeper was awarded to Ozen Silva, best player of the match to Rohan Rodrigues and emerging player of the tournament to Sahil.
The SSC toppers from Verna were also felicitated with the certificates and cash prizes. Later, Sancen proposed a vote of thanks.
