Margao RCC emerge champs

MARGAO, FEB 16 Margao RCC beat Bicholim RCC by 21 runs to emerge champions in Shubham Naik memorial inter-RCC U-14 cricket tournament organised by Shubham Naik Trust in association with Sports Authority of Goa at SAG sports complex, Fatorda on Wednesday.

Margao RCC beat Bicholim RCC by 21 runs to emerge champions in Shubham Naik memorial inter-RCC U-14 cricket tournament organised by Shubham Naik Trust in association with Sports Authority of Goa at SAG sports complex, Fatorda on Wednesday.
Batting first, Margao scored 179 for 5 in 40 overs. Saiesh Naik hit a brilliant 72 runs. He was ably supported by Sajan Shirodkar who remained undefeated at 32.
For Bicholim, Sukhdev Gaad was the most successful bowler scalping 2 for 34 while Madhukar Payaji, Somnath Panograhi and Tejas Harlankar shared one wicket each.
In reply, Bicholim’s Somnath Paingrahi’s swashbuckling 86 runs was not enough to achieve the target and were bundled out at 158 in 38.2 overs. Manthan Khulkar picked up 4 for 17 while Saiesh Gaonkar took 2 for 17.
Following prizes were awarded: Best batsman - Somnath Paingrahi (Bicholim RCC). Man of the finals - Saiesh Gaonkar (Margao RCC). Best bowler - Manthan  Khutkar (Margao RCC). Man of the series in memory of Saurabh Sardessai - Saiesh Naik Gaonkar (Margao RCC).
Brief score: Margao RCC, 179 for 5 in 40 overs. (Saiesh Naik Gaonkar not out 72, Sajjan Shirodkar not out 32, Maruti Huggi 22 runs. Sukhdev Gaad 2-34, Madhukar Payaji, Somnath Panigrahi and Tejas Harlankar 1 wicket each). Beat Bicholim RCC, 158 all out in 38.2 overs. (Somnath Panigrahi 86, Umang Gosavi 15, Alam Khan 11 runs. Manthan Khutkar 4-17, Saiesh Gaonkar 2-17, Maruti Huggi 1-25).
GPCC and Goa Olympic Association president, Subhash Shirodkar was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Manuel Colaco, chairperson, Quepem Municipal Council, Vinod Dhamaskar, former State coach and Gopalrao Naik. Sandeep Naik welcomed and later proposed the vote of thanks.
