MARGAO: MLT Cricket Club secured a 20-run win over Mapusa Dream Crushers, while Desserts n More Avengers edged out Vimson Panjim Powerplay by three wickets in a nail-biting finish, on the 11th day of the 7th edition of the Sarsangan Super Series Cricket 2024-25, played at the Arlem ground.
In the first match, batting first, MLT Cricket Club posted 165/7 in 20 overs. Siddhesh Sinai Amonkar (35 off 29) ended his lean spell, supported by Atchut Naik Dalal (34 off 24), Nityay Kuncolienkar (38 off 20), and Manish Kakode (38 off 22). Paarth Kossambe was the pick of the bowlers for Mapusa, taking 3/18, with Keshav Bhat (2/14) and Durgesh Prabhugaonkar (2/29) also chipping in.
In response, Mapusa began positively with contributions from Sarvesh Kamat (33 off 27) and Sanjay Netravalkar (27 off 18). However, MLT's Siddhesh Bodke delivered a match-winning spell, claiming 4/22 and stifling Mapusa’s chase. Despite Varun Kudchadkar’s late cameo (16 off 7), the Dream Crushers fell short, dismissed for 145 in 18.2 overs.
MLT's win propelled them to third place on the points table with 8 points. Individual accolades went to Manish Kakode (Drogaria Colvalcar Man-of-the-Match), Nityay Kuncolienkar (Priority Constructions Best Batter), and Siddhesh Bodke (Wakao Best Bowler).
In the second match, Vimson Panjim Powerplay set a challenging target of 161/6. Vardhan Prabhu Miskin (37 off 19) and Sandeep Dalal (35 off 28) led the charge, with vital contributions from Prasad Bhende (22) and Siddhant Kunde (21). The Avengers’ bowling unit, led by Nimay Kamat and Akhil Nadkarni, restricted the flow of runs.
The Avengers’ chase was spearheaded by Aditya Dalal, who blazed 38 off just 12 balls, and Vaibhav Kadkade, who scored 35 off 24. Skipper Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar added a crucial 27 off 15 to steer his team home at 164/7 in 19.2 overs, with two balls to spare.
The victory placed the Avengers at the top of the table with 8 points, edging out Priority Titans and MLT on Net Run Rate. Post-match awards included Drogaria Colvalcar Man-of-the-Match for Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar, Priority Constructions Best Batter for Aditya Dalal, and Wakao Best Bowler for Vardhan Prabhu Miskin.
