Nashik, Geno win easy; Dempo go down fighting to BSNL

PANJIM: Nashik CA, Geno SC and BSNL were victorious on the second day of the 3rd late Babu Naik all-India cricket tournament which was held across different venues in the State, on Wednesday.

PANJIM: Nashik CA, Geno SC and BSNL were victorious on the second day of the 3rd late Babu Naik all-India cricket tournament which was held across different venues in the State, on Wednesday.  
In a nail biting finish at Fatorda, BSNL got better of Dempo by 2 wickets and 2 balls to spare. Put in to bat by BSNL, Dempo scored 254/9 in 45 overs. The  in-form batsman Saurabh Bandekar (46) was the top scorer with Akshay Jhambekar (43), Anant Tambekar (39 not out), Kashyap Bakhale (34), Darshan Misal (31) and Vaibhav Govekar (24) contributing well towards the total. Kuldeep Diwan (5-39) was the pick of the bowlers. Noel Rana, Kamlesh Makhmana, Salil Yadav and NS Negi took one wicket each. 
In reply, BSNL surpassed the target in 44.4 overs. Jonginder Singh (70) set the motion for BSNL by sharing a 97 runs partnership with Anshul Kapse (63). Kamlesh Makhmana (37 not out) and P.Pradhan (26) saw to that BSNL reached the target. Subodh Bhatti (3-28), Akshay Jhambekar (2-26), Saurabh Bandekar (1-55), Darshan Misal (1-50) and Robin Dsouza (1-11) bowled well for Dempo.
Jonginder Singh was awarded the Man-of-the-Match. 
Meanwhile AT Sanguem, Geno SC defeated DTDC by 8 wickets. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, DTDC were bundled out for 105 in 37 overs by the disciplined Geno bowlers. Yogesh Pujari (19) and Tarun Jadhav (18) were the only runs getter for DTDC. Harshad Gadekar (3-21), Dheeraj yadav (3-29), Mahesh Patil (2-12) and Amit Yadav (2-27) bowled well for Geno. 
In reply Geno chased the target in 12.5 overs. Amit Yadav(45), Sangram Attekar(42 not out) batted well for Geno. Kishor Waghela and Sumit Sharma took one wicket each.
Amit Yadav was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match for his all round performance. 
In a match played in Agonda, Nashik CA defeated Deniel CA by 275 runs. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Nashik scored 353 all out in 40.3 overs. Shreyas Gaidhani (84) was the top scorer with Yogesh  Yadav (71), Pratik Athavle  (57) , Abhijit Pawar (41) batting well for Nashik. For Deniels, Raju (3-60), Tharun (2-56), Rohit (1-32), Kaustubh (1-73) and Balraj (1-67) were the wicket takers. 
In reply Deniels were bowled out for 78 in 24 overs. Only Abhiram (13) could reach the double figure mark. Devastating spell by Omkar Tavre (3-15) and Akshay Ghorpade (3-12) along with Ravindra Jadhav (2-15), Jayesh Pawar and Vivek Isharwal’s solo wicket saw that no batsmen could show any resistance to the Nashik attack.
Shreyas Gaidhani was the Man-of-the-Match.
