RAIA: Navelim SC edged past Curtorim Gymhana 1-0 to move into the final of the 45th Custodio Memorial inter-village football tournament organized by Raia Sporting Club, at Raia panchayat ground, on Saturday.
In the 3rd minute itself Aldrich Coelho of Navelim SC was almost made to repent after Aulon Gomes feeded him inside the Curtorim Gymkhana box but the formers control lost his control over the ball.
There after Joaquim Carvalho of Curtorim Gymkhana sent in a long diagonal ball to Agnelo Martins but Nevin Pereira blocked his move for Navelim SC in the 8th minute.
In the 9th minute, Aldrich header was blocked by Savio Fernandes of Curtorim Gymhana inside the box of Alvito Colaco’s connect.
The 12th minute saw Clinton Niasso sent in a diagonal ball to Sandy Colaco who floated the ball to Aldrich Coelho who was prowling inside the Curtorim Gymkhana collected the ball and pushed the ball inside the nylons of Curtorim Gymkanha with his left foot to get the solitary goal for his team.
Again Aldrich Coelho tried one more left footed effort after changing his left flank to right flank but the rival defender foiled it.
Crossing over, Curtorim Gymhana tried to come back in the game but all the departments of Navelim SC were on the mark.
In the 48th minute Aulon Gomes shot was saved by the Curtorim goalkeeper soon after that Joshly Gomes of Curtorim Gymhana released a powerful grounder which hit the rival goalpost and went out of play.
At full time, the score was 1-0.
