It’s all about Paris Saint-Germain, as PSG clinched their first-ever UEFA Champions League title with a dominant 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in a one-sided final held on Saturday — thanks in part to two goals from Désiré Doué. PSG delivered a stellar performance in front of a roaring crowd, forcing many Inter supporters to leave the stadium before the final whistle.
Doué scored in the 20th and 63rd minutes for PSG. In addition, Achraf Hakimi (12th minute), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (73rd minute), and substitute Senny Mayulu (86th minute) each added a goal to seal PSG’s record-breaking win.
This is the biggest margin of victory ever recorded in a Champions League final in the past 70 years.
PSG head coach Luis Enrique said, “Now we have the Champions League trophy. From the very first day I joined PSG, I said our goal was to win this title. It was the only trophy that had eluded us until now.”
This was the very trophy that even global superstars like Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappé were unable to bring to the French club. PSG had previously reached the Champions League final in 2020 but were defeated by Bayern Munich. Following that loss, a tearful Neymar was seen in an empty stadium in Lisbon, as the match was played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
