PANJIM: A fine brace from Kunal Salgaonkar helped Sesa Football Academy score a fluent 2-0 win over Youth Club of Manora in the Geno-GFA First Division League match played at Sirsaim ground.
The action filled match witnessed seven yellow cards including two red cards as both the sides were reduced to 10 man.
Sesa Football Academy dominated possession throughout the game as YC Manora lost possession easily in the midfield.
Kunal came close twice in the first half to score but missed the chances. A straight red card was shown to Valito Miranda of YC Miranda in the 52nd minute after his reckless challenge on the edge of the penalty area. Sesa FA took the lead in the 65th minute through Kunal, who scored an easy tap in for Sesa Football Academy.
SFA’s Anil was shown a second yellow and was sent off for his tackle on the opponent. Both the teams played with 10 men with SFA in advantage.
It was only in the 84th minute when Colaco made a pinpoint lob pass to Kunal who struggled past the defenders to score the second goal for SFA.
Kunal was awarded the man of the match trophy for his brilliant performance that helped SFA seal all three points.
At Raia ground, Roque Borges scored the lone goal of the game as Curtorim Gymkhana scored a narrow 1-0 win over Dempo Sports Club Juniors. Curtorim's Cliff Barreto bagged the man-of-the-match award.
Meanwhile, at Rosary ground, Navelim, Salgaocar FC Juniors also scored a solitary goal win over United Club of Telaulim. There was no score in the 90 minutes duel but just when it looked like the teams would walk away with a point each, Salgaocar's Fhezer Gomes came with an injury time match-winner to give Salgaocar full points. United Club Telaulim's Donald Pereira was named the man- of-the-match.
At Ella ground, SCC Cavelossim beat St Savio SC 1-0. Denson Fernandes’ sixth minute strike was enough for the South Goa side to earn full points and maintain their unbeaten run in the league.
