St Anthony’s Club Colva win shoot-out

BENAULIM: St Anthony's Club, Colva shot-out SAI Avtar Anjuna 6-5 to move into the semi-final of the 42nd Cana Benaulim Soccer tournament organised by Cana Benaulim Sporting Association, at the Sao Joao Baptist ground, Cana-Benaulim, on Saturday.

BENAULIM: St Anthony's Club, Colva shot-out SAI Avtar Anjuna 6-5 to move into the semi-final of the 42nd Cana Benaulim Soccer tournament organised by Cana Benaulim Sporting Association, at the Sao Joao Baptist ground, Cana-Benaulim, on Saturday.
The game ended 1-1 before St. Anthony's CC won it in tie-breakers. 
St. Anthony's Keith Rodrigues had a great opportunity when he struck a long ranger that was tipped over the bar by the Anjuna goalkeeper Somant Korgaonkar. 
He was called into action again when he denied Baptist Fernandes in the 25th minute of the game. 
Meanwhile, for Sai Avtar, Nitesh Salgaonkar had a chance when his headed effort was saved by the Colva custodian Minguel Fernandes. 
Anjuna went onto to take the lead when Floyd Lobo struck the opening goal from a corner kick which was taken by Vinayak Mulgaonkar. 
Meanwhile, Jesus Cardozo of Colva managed to equalise for Colva.
In the tie-breaker, Bonny Fernandes, Maxson Fernandes, Fanslan Correia, Conrad Fernandes and Kabir Khan scored while Akshay Dabhokar, Nitesh Salgaonkar, Aniket Dabholkar and Dinesh Morajkar scored for Anjuna.
