RAIA: Shane Antonio, Sunil Shanke, Benson Souza, Alton Fernandes and Maria Alvares emerged champions as the inter-Seraulim table tennis and carrom tournament, organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim, concluded after two weeks of competition featuring 61 players.
In carrom singles, Shane Antonio claimed the men’s crown, ending Tadeo Fernandes’ three-year dominance in the semi-final before defeating Sandeep Shanke 29-18 in the final. Benson Souza clinched the juniors’ singles, edging out his elder brother Ashton 29-23. Maria Alvares retained her ladies’ singles crown, beating Crispine Fernandes 29-18.
In table tennis, Sunil Shanke lifted the men’s singles title with a straight-sets victory over Agnelo D’Costa (21-16, 21-18), while Alton Fernandes won the juniors’ crown for the second time, overcoming Eustace Da Costa 21-15, 21-19.
Rev Fr Jose Gomes, Parish Priest of Seraulim, was the chief guest and presented the prizes. Policarpo Cruz, president of the club, proposed the vote of thanks.
