Father-Son Duos Set for Final Showdown in Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2025

PANJIM: It’s going to be a final face-off for honours between two father-son pairs in the men’s doubles 120+ event in the Masters category at the ongoing Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2025 organised by Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias and the Gadre Group in collaboration with the Goa State Tennis Association at Miramar, on Sunday.

In the first semi-final, father Sushil Gujarathi and son Yati Gujarathi easily defeated Bharat Patil and Khalil Ansari 6-0, 6-1.

In the second semi-final, the other father-son duo, Shrikant and Amit Tambe, also had a relatively easy outing against Dilip Londhe and Shirish Nandurdikar, defeating the latter 6-3, 6-1.

In the men’s doubles 110 category, Yati and Shirish Gujarathi first defeated Anil Baukhandi/Anand Bhandari 6-0 in the quarter-finals before reaching the final defeating Manoj Chandiramani/Armugam M 6-4, 6-4 in the semis.

In the final of Masters category, they will face Ashutosh Pednekar and Rajesh D'Souza, who defeated Sunil Maskara and Veeresh Kelgeri 6-2 in the quarter-final, before reaching the final by subsequently defeating Vijay Kamat/Sunil Mishra 6-3, 6-1 in the semi-final.

In the 90+ men’s doubles semi-final in the Masters category, Mano Chhabra and Bulu defeated Som SK and Arun Kataria 6-1, 6-4 and will have to overcome a challenge in the final hurdle from Mandar Wakankar and Rajesh Dave, who defeated Vikas Chaudhary and Anant Gupta 6-3, 6-1 in another semi-final.

Ramesh RN booked a position in the final of the Masters men’s singles 55+ winning the semi-final against Caetano Fernandes 6-4, 6-1, where he will face Jude Cardozo, who overcame a challenge from Alok Mishra 7-5, 6-1 in another semifinal.

The two semi-finals in the mixed doubles 35+ event in the Masters category witnessed a contest between Tanya Caldeira/Arup A and Raisa Mergulhao/Lyndon Pinto 6-4, 6-1 and Milica Rakovic/Mladen Petrovic versus Anjali/Santosh Gorawar 7-6, 6-3, clearing the path for a summit clash between the winners.

Randeep Datta claimed a slot in the final of the men’s singles 60+ even in the Masters category with a victory over Rafik Khotu 6-3, 7-6.
