MARGAO: Rising star Vedant Wagle and debut finalist Yuvaan Sanke have stormed into the finals of the under-13 boys category at the 37th VM Salgaocar Major Ranking Table Tennis tournament, currently underway at the Multipurpose Stadium, at Fatorda.
Organised by Cortalim Gymkhana under the aegis of the Goa Table Tennis Association, the tournament saw a stellar performance from Vedant Wagle, who defeated top seed Ruhaan Shaikh 3-1 in the U13 semi-finals after cruising past Ashank Dalvi 3-0 in the quarter-finals.
Fifth seed Yuvaan Sanke continued his impressive form by overpowering Kaushik Nair 3-0 in the semi-finals, following a hard-fought 3-1 win over Ishaan Colaso in the quarters. His consistent progress and first-ever finals appearance underscore his emergence as a promising paddler in Goa’s table tennis scene.
Vedant further showcased his dominance in the Under-15 category, once again toppling top seed Ruhaan Shaikh 3-1 in the semi-finals after a convincing 3-0 win over Yuvaan in the quarter-finals. He will now meet Dhruva Kamat in the final, who advanced after a straight-set 3-0 victory over Kavish Dalvi.
Vedant’s rare feat of defeating top seed Ruhaan in both U13 and U15 categories has positioned him on the verge of clinching a prestigious double crown. Meanwhile, Yuvaan’s breakthrough tournament performance highlights his rapid rise and positions him as a talent to watch in the state’s growing table tennis circuit.
