PANJIM: As part of the #IronLadiesIndia’25 initiative for International Women’s Day, Vedanta Sesa Goa, in partnership with the Goa Paralympic Association, has extended support to champion para-athlete Sakshi Kale.
The backing will aid her participation in the World Para-Athletics Grand Prix 2024-25 and the Khelo India Games. The initiative celebrates women’s resilience and contributions across various fields. To mark the occasion, a felicitation ceremony was held at Sesa Ghor, Patto-Panjim, where Sakshi received financial assistance and a memento honouring her inspiring journey.
The event was attended by CEO of Vedanta Sesa Goa Navin Jaju, President of the Goa Paralympic Association Vishram Naik, Secretary of GPA Sudesh Thakur, Sakshi’s parents and Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Khandola, Principal Prof (Dr) Purnakala Samant among other dignitaries.
Navin Jaju lauded Sakshi’s achievements, stating, “Sakshi is an ‘Iron Lady’ and a role model for us all. At Vedanta Sesa Goa, we are privileged to support her dreams. Over the years, we have championed women’s aspirations through initiatives like the Sesa Football Academy, Sesa Technical School, and Vedanta Utkarsh Scholarships. With community support, we hope to create many more champions like her.”
A resident of Usgao and a student of GCASC, Khandola, Sakshi has overcome visual impairment to make her mark at the national level. She will compete in the 100m, 200m sprints, and long jump at the upcoming Grand Prix. Her recent form has been promising, with strong performances in various events. She will later represent Goa at the Khelo India Games.
Expressing her gratitude, Sakshi said, “I am very thankful to Vedanta Sesa Goa for their support. This will encourage other para-athletes and motivate me to achieve more for India.”
Sakshi’s journey exemplifies determination, and with this latest backing, she is set to shine on the international stage.
