Xetrapal SC win 3-2 thriller

MAPUSA: Xetrapal Sports Club registered a hard-fought 3-2 win over Sinquerim Sports Club in a keenly contested match of the Assonora United Super Soccer Cup organised by Assonora United FC at the Assonora sports complex ground.

Krish Naroji drew first blood in the 15th minute of the match when he connected a measured-cross from Saimesh Gaonkar to put the ball past the Xetrapal SC goalkeeper to give Sinquerim SC the lead, 1-0.

Sinquerim SC’s joy did not last long as Xetrapal SC scored the equaliser in 20th when Kanhaiya chased a through ball by Chandrakant to fake the onrushing goalkeeper to tap into the open goal, 1-1.

On the verge of the lemon break, Xetrapal SC took the lead through Ashok who connected a pass from Aryan to beat the goalkeeper with a deft placement to make it 2-1.

On changing ends, Sinquerim SC came back strongly and scored the equaliser in the very 4th minute of the second half through Krish Naroji with a neat header to the right of the goalkeeper of a corner kick taken by Saimesh Gaonkar.

Xetrapal SC took the lead in 27th minute of the second half when Chandrakant headed home a rebound of the cross piece from a brilliant free-kick taken by Vipul Pednekar, 3-2.
