The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned former cricketers Robin Uthappa and Yuvraj Singh, along with actor Sonu Sood, in connection with an alleged money laundering probe linked to the 1xBet betting app.
According to sources, the case involves people being duped and evading taxes through the online platform. Uthappa is scheduled to appear before the ED’s Delhi headquarters on September 22, Yuvraj on September 23, and Sonu Sood on September 24.
The summons have been issued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Earlier this week, the ED also questioned former TMC MP and actor Mimi Chakraborty and Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela in the same case.
Notably, this is not the first time cricketers have been called in for questioning. Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina have also faced ED summons earlier in the probe.
The 1xBet app, which has been operating for nearly 18 years, is available in about 70 languages and allows betting on multiple sports worldwide.
