Fitness is something Koyal Rana, the Miss World 2014 contestant representing India, takes seriously. A model and dancer, Koyal was crowned Femina Miss India at the 2014 beauty pageant, the same pageant for which Goan model Gail Da Silva was crowned Femina Miss India United Continent 2014. Koyal made it to the top 10 as one of the best performers in Miss World 2014 with titles like Miss World Asia, Beauty with a Purpose and World Fashion Designer Dress. When asked how her life has changed post the pageant, the 22-year-old replies, “I am still the same person. I have realised more things and have had a great experience at the pageant, meeting contestants from different countries. It makes you think in a different way,” said Koyal.

In Goa for the launch of the Reebok ‘Fit Hub’ concept store, Koyal was surely dressed for the do. Garbed in running attire, Koyal shared with us her love for fitness. “I am a huge fitness fan. I do yoga in the morning and my day doesn’t start without meditation. I love the beaches and places like Mumbai and Goa give you the freedom to work out on the beach. I don’t have a strict fitness regime as I don’t want the exercises to be monotonous. Twice a week, I run on the beach or simply listen to music and dance it out. As a kid, I was into sports, and in college, I was the sports captain of different teams. My parents are also very conscious about their health and that quality was instilled in me,” said the Delhi based girl who also won the Beach Fashion title at the Miss World.

Speaking about the current batch of Femina Miss India contestants, Koyal said, “Every batch of contestants is great and I wish them all the best. I gave my best at the Miss World pageant and the winner was amazing. It was a wonderful experience interacting with contestants and every time someone mentions a country, I can imagine the girl who represented the country in front of me.”

This happens to be Koyal’s second visit to Goa; her earlier visit being the India Beach Fashion Week where she walked the ramp for Falguni and Shane Peacock. “I love Goa and my selfies in Goa are amazing, maybe it is the glow on my face to be here. I had a shoot on the beach in the morning, but I am neither tired nor tanned from the day in the sun,” said Koyal with a broad smile.

Koyal is keeping her options open and being selective about the offers she is receiving for modelling as she is still settling down. Her message to youngsters: “Fitness is extremely important for life and it’s not just about losing kilos or looking good. If you are fit, you will lead a healthy and happy life.”
