
Goa Affordable Art Fest (GAAF) 2019, founded by Siddharth Kerkar and
Subodh Kerkar, will take place from December 14, 2019 to February 14, 2020. On
the first day, at 6:30 pm, MOG will host a preview night for the same, which
will be open to all at no entry charge. GAAF is a platform for emerging artists
to exhibit their work and an opportunity for fledgling collectors to acquire
contemporary art at affordable prices.
Artworks at GAAF are priced between INR 1,000 and INR 1,00,000
and available for sale.
The third edition of the Fest sees distinct forms of visual arts
on display: art photography, paintings, digital art, mixed media, printmaking,
and sculptures. GAAF19 is showcasing over 900 works by 271 artists from across
India.
Applications for the
Fest were open to all artists based in India, at no charge. Out of 1,200
applicants, the jury selected 271 artists. The selected works will be displayed
at MOG and will be accessible to over 50,000 visitors over two months. The
selection panel constitutes of artist Jagannath Panda, with founder of Delhi’s
Latitude 28 gallery, Bhavna Kakar, and MOG director and artist, Subodh Kerkar.
“It is a myth that you need a lot of money to collect art,” says Bhavna Kakar,
editor, TAKE on Art magazine. “I hope everyone visits the Fest and takes their
pick of the diverse art on display!”
Reema Diwan,
corporate director of technical services and interiors at Taj Hotels Resorts,
Palaces & Safaris, will be the Guest of Honour at the preview night. Diwan
has a 19-year-long career leading guest experiences at top luxury hospitality
brands in India. As an interior design professional, she is an expert in
hospitality design, innovation and in creating experiences using art.
GAAF preview night will include a musical performance by
notable Indian singer-songwriter Tritha Sinha. Escobar will take over the bar
at MOG on the opening night of GAAF.
