Inspiration is a rather elusive beast. It can present itself anytime of the day and slip away like the elusive Loch Ness monster. Writers, poets and musicians to cite a few live for that moment of inspiration. Bands live by that principle in the world. They live in the hope of creating that perfect song that may be their next hit or their first hit that will take them to the big times. Black IN White a Goan band that is very popular in the very crowded landscape that is the Goa music scene has recorded an original composition called “Take my Hand”. The six-piece band recorded the piece at bandmate Noel Josh’s studio. Christoffer Daniel the lead guitarist and spokesperson for the band said this move was something the band was always very keen on. Chris said “This pandemic gave the band the much-needed time and a break from busy schedules. We always wanted to do originals. This is just the first of many more to come.” The song he said expresses emotions one feels when, after trials and tribulations, they finally overcome it and get to be with their loved one. It symbolises a lover’s feelings. The verse talks about the joys of being in love, and how love can strengthen you to face anything life throws at you. Hope. Faith. Desire to be together. The chorus captures the wish of “hope this never ends”. The song he said was a culmination of all our passions and feelings. He said” A song expresses what a person feels. In this song the topic is love, and how it makes the person feel. How true love can last the test of time and overcome all possible obstacles in its way”. The band, Chris said was a collaborative unit. He said “We maximise the output potential of each member of Black IN White. Each one brings to the table a different set of skills and weapons. Primary song writers are vocalist Genny and guitarist Chris, with inputs from others as well. EDM Gomes, the bassist and Leroy our drummer bring in the rhythm and pace of the song. Each member is involved in the composing equally. Rosh excels in putting it all together, chord changes, song arrangement, mixing, instrument arranging, mastering etc.” Asked how did they intend to popularise the song, he said they were waiting for the pandemic to subside and to then start doing live shows. If it persisted, he said they would start live streaming. The song he said was the first of what would eventually be an album. He said “As of now, since live shows are on hold, we have made the song available across all social media and music platforms. The response has been overwhelming and we are glad people like the song. Hopefully in the future we may be able to live stream if situation allows for it. It’s the people who make the song popular, and we, as a band are immensely grateful to each and every one out there who has heard and liked the song and helped spread the word. There’s no faster media than “word of mouth “. One hopes the band achieves success and spreads happiness wherever they perform.
