
Department of Social Work of Don Bosco College, Panjim recently organized a three day orientation visits program for first year students of Bachelor of Social Work and Masters of Social Work in Goa as a part of social work education. Students were taken to various social organizations (NGOs) to understand the functioning, projects of the organizations on the social issues and approaches to address issues for betterment of the society. Through this visit, students have also got an idea about their future roles of Professional Social Worker in the social field as a change maker. During these three days, students have visited five organizations which include Chaitanya Mental Health Institute, Tivim, which works on mental health issues and rehabilitation, Help Age India, Porvorim which deals with issues of senior citizens and its welfare, Video Volunteers, Anjuna with an objective to empower community voice and promote and protect human rights of the people. The main aim of this visit was to develop attitude skill and knowledge among the social work students in respect of social field and develop them as a future cadre of social worker to bring social change in the society.
