The reigning Miss Supranational, Jenny Kim of Korea, will crown the 10th title holder of Miss Supranational at an exciting evening of glamour, fashion and entertainment at the world’s most spectacularly televised pageant.

Jenny Kim, Miss Supranational 2017 recently arrived in Mumbai to attend the Grand Finale of Miss Diva Miss Universe India 2018. This is her first visit to India and she was excited to be visiting Goa along with Prathamesh, who addressed the media at the Goa Marriott Resort & Spa on Tuesday. The visit will be extra special for Jenny as Prathamesh hails from Goa and will be showing her his hometown.

The first Supranational competition was launched in 2009 in the beautiful city of Plock, Poland, playing host to contestants from nearly 40 countries around the world. After eight years, the number of countries is 80 and it is now one of the most prestigious live TV shows being aired worldwide.

From its inception to now, India boasts a victory of two crowns from this International pageant – Shrinidhi Shetty, Miss Supranational 2016 and Asha Bhat, Miss Supranational 2014. Similarly, Mister Supranational aims to revolutionise the industry, being the first competition of this nature to have a super modern and high fashion television production. A total of 36 countries and territories competed on the contest’s first edition, in Poland. The idea is to discover new talents for the modelling and television industries and to produce instant celebrities.

All eyes are on Prathamesh Maulingkar, Mister Supranational, who is a strong contender for the international crown. Prathamesh is a fitness enthusiast and owns his own gymnasium. Apart from that, he is also an avid footballer. He believes that a healthy mind is equal to a healthy body and is keen to spread the message of fitness and the importance of a healthy lifestyle across the globe. India has never won an international crown as far as Mister Supranational goes, and this will be a first if he does win.

Miss Supranational, Jenny Kim speaks about her journey so far and her first visit to India:

Speaking about how her journey started, Jenny said it was her teacher back in high school who encouraged her to take this up as the teacher felt Jenny had the right qualities. From then on, she points out that it had been an interesting journey where she got to live her dream and also learn about life and the industry at a young age.

From not winning the crown in the first two pageants she participated in, to eventually winning the title; Jenny spoke about how one should not give up on their dreams in the short term as it is important to keep the long term in mind.

She felt that winning the crown was a dream come true moment for her, as she always wanted to be a model when she was young. She also added that all this was new to her at the beginning, given that she was entering a totally different world from her previous background as a student of business.

She addressed the many misconceptions or frivolous perceptions that exist about the pageant world, and spoke highly about the platform it gives models, about the power it has in bringing about change in the world and how it can give someone like her a voice to relay messages wherever she goes. Having already travelled to numerous countries, Jenny points out that these cultural exchanges and learning’s have been meaningful like her first trip to India.

Speaking about India, Jenny stated that she was very impressed with what she has seen so far, particularly the welcoming nature amongst Indians. She felt that even though she had been in India only for a day, it felts like she has been here for three days. She added that she was touched by how warm hearted Indian people are.

She further referred to what she described as a Korean way of life, where one gives to others, the love they receive and how she will take the love she received from India and pass it on wherever she goes and among all the countries she will continue to visit in the future.

She was also impressed by the culture and traditions maintained in India and observed that Indian people can wear traditional attire casually. She felt that this was very unique to India as a country compared to other countries; and she felt that this is something Korean people could emulate, where they could wear the traditional Korean dress on a daily basis.

When asked what it takes to survive in what is considered to be a cut throat industry, she felt it was important to be focused in the industry and remain positive no matter what happens and that one has to be mentally and physically strong.
