Salman Khan’s unforgettable hairstyle from the 2003 film Tere Naam sparked a major fashion trend, with his long, centre-parted locks becoming an instant hit among fans. Now, over two decades later, the superstar has finally revealed the surprising inspiration behind that look.

Appearing on the premiere episode of The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show on June 21, Salman shared that the hairstyle for his character Radhe Mohan was actually inspired by former Indian President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. “The look from Tere Naam was inspired by Abdul Kalam saab,” he said. “I felt that small-town heroes usually have long hair. Even the yesteryear stars did. Around that time, Rahul Roy also had a similar style, so it all came together.”

Salman’s admiration for Dr. Kalam extended beyond aesthetics. After the former president’s death in 2015, the actor posted several heartfelt tributes on social media, expressing deep respect for the visionary leader. The hairstyle, it turns out, wasn’t just a stylistic choice—it was also a quiet homage to someone he truly admired.

Tere Naam, which told the tragic love story of Radhe and Nirjara, became one of Salman Khan’s most memorable films. His emotionally charged performance and unique look left a lasting impression on audiences. To this day, the film—and that signature hairstyle—remain etched in Bollywood history.
