This is the sixth edition of Publishing
Next, the annual conference that brings India’s diverse publishing sector
closer, on a common ground. The annual gathering of publishers, authors,
editors, translators, librarians, book retailers, printers, technologists,
service providers and policymakers from all over India, which commenced on
September 11, 2015, is taking place at Krishnadas Shama Goa State Central
Library, Panjim.
This year’s conference sees speakers from Itanagar, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Bangalore, Nagercoil, Kochi and Goa. Foreign speakers from London and Ljubljana (Slovenia) are also included, with delegates coming in from places like Agartala as well as far-away Germany.
The key highlights of Publishing Next 2015 include panel discussions, workshops for publishing professionals and power presentations. The panel discussion has top CEOs from Academic Publishing in India come together, along with renowned publishers from various Indian languages, as well as experts from allied fields like digital services and print services. The pressing issues of the rapidly transforming industry, of new strategies to grow the publishing business, and also of re-imagining the shape of content for the future, are being discussed by experts.
The workshops for publishing professionals focuses on practical aspects of publishing, like Copyrights and Contracts, Social Media Marketing for books, Digitisation of the Backlist and Podcasting led by experts in the field.
The list of speakers includes Sanjeev Goswami, MD Springer India, Delhi, Vivek Mehra, CEO and MD SAGE, Delhi, Emma House, Director for Publisher Relations at the Publishers Association (PA) ,UK, Virendra Gupta, CEO Dailyhunt, Bangalore and others.
On the concluding day today, the conference will culminate with the presentation ceremony of the Publishing Next Industry Awards. The Awards, instituted in 2014, aim to recognise quality, entrepreneurship and innovation in the publishing sector.
