Film actress Urvashi Rautela is facing massive criticism for her controversial statement regarding the historic Urvashi Temple located near Badrinath in Uttarakhand. Her remarks have drawn objections from the Uttarakhand Char Dham Tirth Purohit Mahapanchayat, which has warned that if Urvashi does not retract her statement and apologise, legal action will be taken against her. The Mahapanchayat has also urged the government to take action.

In a statement released on Friday, the Mahapanchayat said that the Urvashi Temple near Badrinath is dedicated to the presiding deity of the region. Spokesperson Aniruddh Prasad Uniyal stated that Urvashi Rautela made such a statement merely to gain cheap publicity.

Urvashi Rautela's temple remark

In an interview, Urvashi Rautela claimed that a temple has been built in her name near Badrinath. “In Uttarakhand, there’s a temple named after me,” she said during the interview. “If you visit Badrinath, you’ll find the Urvashi Temple located right beside it.” She also expressed her desire for temples to be built in her name in South India as well, just as in Uttarakhand. She mentioned that she has worked with stars like Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, and Balayya Babu in the South Indian film industry.
