Following his passion for music, Rishabh Joshi chose to become an entertainer instead of following in the footsteps of his family, a noted business family of Vasco. Having recently featured at renowned EDM festival Sunburn, Rishabh, popularly known as Joshi, was happy to perform for a larger audience.

Rishabh always wanted to try his hand at music though he never kept education on the backburner. After completing his Class XII at McGill University and receiving a Masters from London School of Economics, Rishabh decided to take a break and follow his passion of music and performance. His decision to finally enter the world of music was fully supported by his parents. “Instead of taking up a conventional investment banking or consulting job, I decided to move to Goa and focus on producing music and performing. I knew once I get into a banking job, I will not get time for music and it will be completely forgotten,” says Rishabh.

“When I was in Class VI, I was fascinated by music and editing. But when my dad got me programs on a CD, I found them difficult to understand and instead, I started learning the piano. In 2007, when I attended the first Sunburn with Anish Sood, we both were surprised that this kind of music exists in the world, music that was different from rock, pop and the hits we listened to on radio. Now, after completing my graduation, I have become more serious about music. The first six months were a bit slow but now I perform across the country,” adds Rishabh.

Rishabh chose Joshi as his professional pseudonym as the name was confusing in the EDM circle with another Mumbai based EDM producer Rishab Joshi already in the business. “There are very few original EDM music producers in India and people were getting confused with the names. My music is available online with my name Joshi,” explains Rishabh.

In 2014, Rishabh signed a record deal with Armada Music, one of the biggest EDM labels in the world, owned by Armin Van Buuren, Black Hole Recordings and Enhanced Recordings.

As a part of Sunburn over the last two years, Rishabh has performed in cities like Tirupathi, Mahabalipuram, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Aamby Valley and on the mainstage at Sunburn 2014. He has shared the stage with EDM greats like Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, David Guetta, Markus Schulz, Sander Van Doorn, Deniz Koyu, Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso from Swedish House Mafia, Michael Woods, Dinka and Ferry Corsten among others.

For Rishabh, one of his most surprising concerts was the one he performed in Tirupathi for Sunburn Campus. “I wasn’t even sure of what to expect in Tirupati and surprisingly, there were around 40,000 to 50,000 people attending the concert and grooving to the music. I later realised that there are hardly any concerts happening in Tirupathi and people look forward to the festival. It was an amazing experience,” says the deejay who ranked as the number one artist to watch out for in 2015 by India’s biggest EDM blog, Bangin Beats.

His music is supported on the web by Above & Beyond on Group Therapy Radio, Ferry Corsten on Corstens Countdown, Michael Woods on Diffused Radio, Markus Schulz on Global DJ Broadcast, Future Sound of Egypt, Nocturnal Radio, Jaytech Podcast and  Ministry of Sound Radio. Rishabh is now concentrating on producing music and is working with producers from Sweden and America. “Now since the basics are done, it is more of execution. I have projects in hand and I have to meet deadlines. My focus is now my music and I have to channel it to reach a wider audience. I am planning to relocate to Mumbai soon,” he concludes.
