Within a few weeks, the Western Bypass for NH 66 (earlier 17) will be thrown open. The Junction at Belem is ill-planned and many lives have been lost here. There are traffic signals installed but many times people jump signals and put other people's lives at risk. It is dangerous especially for motorists coming from the south and proceeding towards Navelim church as highway traffic will take a sudden left turn to join the bypass and it happens even now.
Secondly, the roundabout is not driver-friendly. In the photo, one can see a cement/concrete mixer taking a turn before the roundabout. Many other vehicles including two-wheeler riders also commit the same mistake.
There is so much noise pollution that one can hardly sleep in peace in the area.
Traffic police should be posted on round-the-clock duty and CCTVs should be installed here till the flyover is constructed.
