At the centre of Cansaulim market square there is a statue of great leader T B Cunha. There is also a Holy Cross, which exits much before the said statue. The feast of this Cross is celebrated every year by the traders, who have their shops in the area, irrespective of caste and creed.
About a year back, a tea gadda was establish next to the market square, statue of T B Cunha and Holy Cross. With the result, in the evenings, the place gets crowded by the migrant labourers from different localities, even from the COVID-19 pandemic areas, who flock to the gadda for tea and snacks. Their presence poses risk to the health of local people. Besides, the tea cups etc. are washed on the adjoining footpath of the square, which is unhygienic, inviting health hazard.
Hence, the tea gadda needs to be shifted to another locality preferably to its original location near the bridge. The place needs to be inspected by the panchayat and health authorities and appropriate action should be taken. The sarpanch must take due interest in this matter.
