MARGAO: Gomant Vidya Niketan will organise a talk by Gomant Sharda Award winner and Science fiction writer Dr Arun Heblekar, who will speak on the topic, ‘Science Fiction and Scientific Outlook,’ on June 14, at 6 pm at Fomento Amphitheatre on the second floor of GVN building. The lecture is part of the fortnightly programme ‘AASWAD.’ There will be a question-answer session at the end of lecture.

PANJIM: ‘Goenkaranchem Diaz’ will be organizing a symposium on traditional cuisine of Goa ‘Goenchem Jevonn’ followed by an interactive session in collaboration with Ravindra Bhavan Margao on June 14 at 4 pm at the Black Box Ravindra Bhavan Margao. One held in theft bid

OLD GOA: A 22-year-old youth from Diwar was arrested for allegedly attempting to commit theft in a house at Malar-Diwar on Wednesday night.
According to Old Goa Police, Rosario from Diwar complained that the accused Mohammed Ali Nawaz entered his house by removing roof tiles and was caught while attempting to commit theft.
Police arrested the accused and PSI R N Shirodkar is investigating the case.
John the Baptist feast
CALANGUTE: The Novena of the feast of St John the Baptist will begin at St John the Baptist Chapel, Umtta Vaddo-Calangute, from June 15 with service at 5 pm with Rosary, followed by Mass. On the feast day, masses will be at 7 am and 9 am. The Fama will be held on June 14 at 5 pm.
30-yr-old found hanging in his house
MARGAO: A 30-year old man, who was working in the Mines department, was found hanging in his house at Aquem-Margao on Thursday evening.
Margao PI Sudesh Naik said that deceased Sunny Pereira was found hanging in his house when family members had gone out. He was taken to Hospicio where he was declared dead.
The police said that Sunny was working in the Mines Department as a clerk.
Margao police is investigating the case. The body has been preserved for post mortem examination, which is expected on Friday.
Eight MP tourists get 14 days JC
MARGAO: The eight tourists from Indore, Madhaya Pradesh, accused in the kidnapping of a minor girl from Benaulim, were on Thursday remanded to 14 days judicial custody.
Meanwhile, the family members of the arrested tourists, who are in Goa, have moved for bail before the Children’s Court. The matter will come up for hearing on Friday, June 14.
It may be recalled that on June 9 mother of the minor girl had filed a complaint alleging that her daughter had been kidnapped by the tourists.
