Fading humanity in human beings

Published on
It seems gone are the days when human beings use to strive with humanity. As the society is infected with modern technology the human beings are getting too much engrossed into it as to be disrespectful, not to be compassionate and caring to his fellow beings.
Recently on Social Media I came across a video clip of suffering of very young boy from deathly rabies. As there is small passage written below the clip with regard to rabies I decided to watch the content of the video. But as soon I started the clip the suffering of the little boy yelling and behaving like man best friend forced me to shut it down with anger running down my spine. What kind of human being are we to upload and share that suffering of that boy and his family. Has humanity vanished in human beings? How will they endorse if any of their family members and close relatives suffering from same disease are uploaded on Social Media? It is shame and ridiculous on part of educated people using social media to post anything without having compassionate feeling and respect to fellow beings.
Some years back there was one more video clip on social media of deathly road accident at Fatorda junction, the girl was badly injured and dying on the road and one pillion rider lost his life. The video clearly showing two strangers giving a helping hand to the badly injured girl. But the elected representative (MLA) of that area was so insensitive that he uploaded the clip on his FB page just to gain publicity for doing nothing with regard to that road accident.
More so, recently a friend of mine revealed how his relatives migrated across two hemispheres from Goa came to their native place where the three loving siblings has joint dwelling with separate cooking facilities and privacy. As his father is KFD patient and on dialysis almost all the relatives who came after many years visited him next door to inquire about him and as well of his elderly mother. But one particular relative who also happens to be Goan and well educated proved himself as a person without any humanity and human touch by not even taking glimpse of elderly relatives to say even a simple “Hello”. After years of meeting them what that inhuman man would have lost just to meet them for a little while? Sick people don’t need gifts but fellow human beings compassion to bring little smile on their sad face. At that moment I thought maybe that man’s parents had not imparted him value of humanity to their son by which he became a disgraceful in nature. Then after a while it made me sense that materialistic values had made human being to lost human touch.
Martin Luther King, jr once wrote “An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity” No matter how much wealth and fame an individual may possess it values to zero in eyes of Almighty if we don’t have humanity in one self.
