The Latest Political Buzz in Goa

An Alliance is a union or association formed for mutual benefits between nations or organisations. Surprisingly the use of the word “Alliance” is now used in politics across India and in Goa too. By such an alliance one party agrees with the other and the other with the former not to field candidates wherever the 1st party is fielding its candidates and vice versa. But if such an alliance is desired in politics is entirely to be decided by each and every voter. Serving legislators on a weak wicket are more eager to form an alliance with the main aim to restore his or her seat, credibility and public standing. 

Today politics is more than a business to feather one’s own nest and the electorate in Goa easily fall a prey to such mean tactics of the political society. Imagine a case where a political party in Goa allowed its legislator to cross the floor to a ruling party and once the entire process is over the legislator has the audacity to say everything has been done in a transparent manner. Imagine another case where a legislator has been sacked from the folds of the party and come election time the party bosses from Delhi go for an amicable solution to his residence because he is as precious as a gem and has the qualities of “Winability”. Question arises why was this legislator sacked? The answer is simple the party is devoid of any principles, morals or ethics.

Fifty years back in 1967 destiny of Goa was shaped when it was saved from being merged in neighbouring Maharashtra. Even the 1st CM Dayanand Bandodkar was in favour of merger. The leaders who fought for anti-merger then were selfless politicians who thought about Goa and Goans. Fifty years hence the political society has undergone a tremendous material change and interests of Goans and good governance are completely forgotten. It is for each and every voter to decide and vote as per his or her conscience.
