In a shocking incident at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel District Hospital in Satna, Madhya Pradesh, a 72-year-old woman had to hold a drip bottle for her injured grandson for nearly half an hour after hospital staff failed to provide a stand. Ashwani Mishra, 35, had been admitted following a road accident, but his treatment was delayed as the grandmother managed the IV herself.

Bystanders said the hospital had ample drip stands, but staff inaction forced the elderly woman to bear the responsibility. Witnesses described the scene as distressing, highlighting the lack of urgency and care.

Compounding the ordeal, the ambulance that transported Mishra broke down at the hospital entrance and required bystanders to push it away. The hospital has a history of complaints about poor infrastructure, missing equipment, and delayed assistance.

Civil Surgeon Manoj Shukla claimed the hospital acted appropriately, stating, “There was no shortage of drip stands. The grandmother picked up the drip, and the patient received treatment within minutes.”
