News Article:
Air India has successfully completed precautionary inspections of the fuel control switch (FCS) locking mechanism across its entire fleet of Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, with no irregularities detected, according to officials from the Tata Group-owned airline.

The inspections were conducted following a directive issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Monday, which mandated airlines to check the FCS on specific Boeing aircraft models by July 21. The directive came in the wake of an Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) report into a recent crash involving a Boeing 787-8 in Ahmedabad. The investigation revealed that the fuel cutoff switches for both engines had been moved to the cutoff position within one second of each other, shortly after takeoff.

Responding promptly, Air India confirmed that all its Boeing 787-8 aircraft had already undergone Throttle Control Module (TCM) replacements in line with Boeing's prescribed maintenance schedule. “The FCS is an integral part of the TCM, and all relevant components have been addressed,” an airline official stated.

With the checks complete and no faults identified, Air India has assured passengers of continued safety and compliance with regulatory standards.
