Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday called upon Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin to consider the introduction of medical and engineering courses in the Tamil language within the state. Shah's remarks were made in response to Stalin's criticisms of the central government regarding the perceived "imposition of Hindi" as part of the three-language policy, which Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has emphasized must be adopted by Tamil Nadu in order to secure Rs 2,152 crore in educational funding.

During a CISF Day celebration at the recently renamed Rajaditya Chola Recruits Training Centre in Thakkolam, located in Tamil Nadu's Ranipet district, Shah urged the state government to enhance Tamil-medium education at advanced levels.

Tamil Nadu's rich culture has played a vital role in enhancing various aspects of India, including governance, spirituality, education, and national unity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a significant step by allowing CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) exams to be conducted in Tamil. I urge Chief Minister Stalin to consider offering MBBS and engineering programs in Tamil as well, Shah expressed.

He mentioned that multiple states have already started offering medical and engineering courses in regional languages. “I've been advocating for this for the past two years without success. I really hope the Chief Minister will take action now,” Shah expressed.
