An interesting news story is coming from Bengaluru, where a 25-year-old goods vehicle driver named Prashanth, also known as Prasha or Simbu, was arrested for creating a viral social media reel that caused a public nuisance. In the video, shared on April 12 from his Instagram account ‘simbu_star_143,’ which has nearly 13,000 followers, Prashanth is seen sitting on a swivel office chair in the middle of Silver Jubilee Park Road (popularly known as SJP Road) and casually sipping tea while obstructing traffic.
The Bengaluru City Police’s social media monitoring wing spotted the reel and alerted the local police, who initially filed a non-cognisable report (NCR) and later registered an FIR against him under Section 270 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (public nuisance) on April 16.
Prashanth was arrested and released on station bail the same day. The police plan to submit a chargesheet, and he could face a fine of up to INR 5,000 depending on the court’s decision. Following the FIR, Prashanth deleted the reel and assured authorities he would stop making reels on public roads. He claimed he was unaware that his stunt could have legal consequences.
