California Sues Trump Over Troop Deployment Amid LA Immigration Protests

The state of California has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration in an attempt to block the deployment of National Guard units and Marines to Los Angeles, arguing the move violates federal law and undermines state sovereignty.

The legal challenge comes after former President Donald Trump ordered approximately 700 Marines to be temporarily stationed in Los Angeles. The deployment follows his vow to crack down harder than ever on demonstrators protesting his immigration policies.

Monday marked the fourth consecutive day of mass protests in Los Angeles. Hundreds of demonstrators gathered near a federal detention facility housing immigrants, calling for an end to what they see as inhumane treatment and unjust enforcement.

Tensions flared downtown as law enforcement officers used flash bangs and rubber bullets to disperse crowds after issuing dispersal orders via loudspeakers. Protesters reportedly clashed with authorities, chanting “Shame! Shame! Shame!” at federal troops and shouting “Pigs go home!” at National Guard personnel guarding the facility in riot gear.

Eyewitnesses said demonstrators also banged on unmarked government vehicles as they moved through protest zones. The legal and political battle over troop presence is now likely to escalate as California pushes back against federal intervention.
