The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended Somnath at his home in Hisar and seized incriminating devices on Tuesday. It was discovered that he allegedly raped, sexually assaulted, threatened, and exploited multiple children for pornography.
The CBI has taken a man from Hisar in Haryana into custody for purportedly raping children and for the creation, uploading, browsing, collection, and exchange of child sexual abuse material online, as stated by the agency on Wednesday.
The actions of the accused, a 40-year-old identified as Somnath, were uncovered through an Interpol database. "In line with its strong commitment to combat the issue of child sexual exploitation and to bring offenders to justice, the CBI has arrested the accused from Hisar in Haryana on charges of committing rape, penetrative sexual assault, and other offenses against multiple minor victims," the federal agency declared in a statement.
The CBI apprehended Somnath from his residence in Hisar and recovered incriminating devices on Tuesday. It was found that he allegedly raped, sexually assaulted, threatened, and exploited multiple children for pornography.
The agency reported that it initiated a case on May 29 after uncovering Somnath's activities while reviewing videos and images on the Interpol’s International Child Sexual Exploitation (ICSE) database.
The ICSE serves as an intelligence and investigative tool that enables investigators to share information regarding child sexual abuse cases across 70 countries, including India. This database has facilitated the identification of 42,300 victims and 18,300 offenders.
The CBI indicated that it independently detected the child sexual abuse, as neither the victims nor their families had reported the incidents to the police or any law enforcement agency.
