Allegations of cross-voting by Opposition MPs in the recent Vice Presidential elections have sparked a major political row, with the BJP taking aim at the Opposition and Congress leader Manish Tewari demanding a thorough probe.
The BJP has used the controversy to suggest deep divisions within the INDIA bloc ahead of crucial state elections. Meanwhile, Tewari warned that cross-voting represents a “serious breach of trust” and could undermine the alliance’s credibility.
“If there was cross-voting, then it should be seriously investigated by each of the constituents of the INDIA Alliance. Cross-voting is an extremely serious matter,” Tewari said.
He further added, “If at all what is being said or speculated has an iota of truth in it, it deserves a systematic and clinical investigation.”
The allegations have fueled speculation about internal rifts within the Opposition camp, with pressure mounting for clarity on whether members broke party lines in the closely watched election.
