Delhi Airport Resumes Operations Amid India-Pakistan Tensions, Issues Passenger Advisory
Published on

Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi resumed normal operations in the early hours of Saturday, even as tensions between India and Pakistan remain high. In a public travel advisory, airport authorities cautioned passengers to anticipate potential delays due to strengthened security protocols and possible airspace changes.

“Delhi Airport operations are normal at present,” the advisory stated. “However, due to changing airspace conditions and increased security measures as per orders from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, some flight schedules might be impacted, and security checkpoint processing times could be longer.”

The heightened alert follows India's continued military engagement along the Pakistan border and the temporary suspension of 32 civilian airports in northern and western India until May 15.

Delhi Airport Advisory for Passengers:

  • Stay informed through updates from your airline.

  • Adhere to hand baggage and check-in luggage regulations.

  • Arrive well in advance to accommodate longer security checks.

  • Cooperate with airport and airline staff for smooth processing.

  • Regularly check flight status via your airline or the official Delhi Airport website.

Passengers are urged to rely only on verified sources of information. “We encourage all passengers to rely on official sources for accurate information and avoid sharing unverified content,” the advisory added.

While Delhi remains fully operational, aviation officials are closely monitoring the evolving security situation and airspace dynamics. Travelers flying to or from affected regions are advised to maintain flexibility in travel plans and stay connected with their airlines for the latest updates.
