Delhi Police have arrested a 39-year-old man from Hauz Qazi for allegedly raping his 65-year-old mother twice, claiming he was “punishing” her for an alleged relationship from her past.

The shocking incident came to light after the survivor, accompanied by her 25-year-old daughter, approached the Hauz Qazi police station and filed a complaint. The assaults reportedly took place shortly after the family’s return from a religious pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

According to the complaint, the woman lives with her husband, a retired government employee, the accused son, and her younger daughter in Hauz Qazi. The family’s elder daughter is married and lives nearby with her in-laws.

Police said that on July 17, the woman, her husband, and younger daughter travelled to Saudi Arabia. During their stay, the accused called his father, pressuring him to return to Delhi and demanding that he divorce his wife. He also accused his mother of having illicit relationships during his childhood.

An FIR has been registered and the accused is currently in police custody. Further investigation is underway.
