Donald Trump Nominates Sergio Gor as US Ambassador to India

US President Donald Trump has nominated his aide Sergio Gor as the next US Ambassador to India. The appointment has attracted attention beyond diplomacy due to a public spat with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who in June called Gor “a snake” following reports questioning his security clearance.

Who is Sergio Gor

Gor, who became a US citizen in 1999 after emigrating via Malta, has been active in Republican political circles. He worked with the Republican National Committee, served as spokesperson for far-right lawmakers, and managed fundraising for Trump’s 2020 campaign. Later, he became Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, responsible for overseeing the hiring of thousands of federal employees.

Musk’s criticism arose after the New York Post reported Gor had allegedly not completed his permanent security clearance paperwork. While the White House disputed this, Musk reposted the article, labeling him “a snake,” fueling public discussion about Gor’s appointment.
